A little about our Breeders

Pride_03-720p

We've hand-selected our collection since 2007 and chosen only animals with A quality structure and secondly selecting for pattern, color, and unique traits. Our breeders come from all over the US and from Canadian lines that were selectively bred from originally imported animals acquired from Allen and Philippe.  Our Bloodlines have been developed from Canadian and U.S crossed stocked, we continue to develop on individual lines that can be outcrossed and crossed back to strengthen the trait we are developing while not inbreeding. We keep a pure Canadian line going so we can continue to use it to add back to our own crossed lines. Since we have developed our own lines in-house we don’t need to worry about breeding US animals as our collection has largely been outcrossed.

Our strategy for breeding is to document and unravel the genetic traits within the crested gecko by genotyping our collection. This helps in predicting the odds for breeding instead of hoping animals look like the grandparents or parents. We are not a fan of “Banking on the chance” but rather betting on the odds. With this idea, we are in the process of working with other breeders in releasing this information to help establish a baseline for traits and their inheritance.

We have a unique collection of animals with varying patterns and morphs. When we pair we aim for a variety of morphs and unique combo morphs that show interesting and often wild patterns and color. We have a strong understanding of genetics and use that to define traits and create morphs and new phenotypes that are difficult to find.

Below you will see a list of our breeders, their morph, or combo morph, and identifiable traits with their inheritance. We actively update these so if you don't see it fully filled in it's because we are still breeding the traits out or adding them to the site.

If you want to learn more about Crested Genetics have a look at our Foundation Genetics page.

Have an ID?

If you have an ID you can find your crestie's parents here. Our IDs look something like this (LY20_0102_UA). The 1st letter is the initial of the male's name and 2nd is the initial of the first letter in the female's name. In the example above, LY=Laxus X Yuki. It is then followed by the breeding season, having a look at the breeding seasons page will show you exactly which 2 letters and number combo refer to which breeders.

So here's the break down:

  • LY = Laxus X Yuki
  • 20 = The breeding season
  • 0102 = Hatch-Date 01/02, January 2nd in the case.
  • U/M/F = The sex of the animal, Unsexed, Male, or Female respectively.
  • A/B = Clutch mates, A is the first one out of the egg, B is the second.
  • Finally, if your ID ends in -##g then that's the weight in grams.

**NOTE** For adults with the same first letter in their name visit our Breeding Seasons Page to see exactly what we bred for your particular ID.

Breeders

MALE

Achilles

Achilles is one of our oldest Creamsicle males, he is 13 years old right now. We only had an iPhone3G back then, so we only had four pictures to choose from when he was 2 years old. Achilles and Fury are excellent examples of how orange base animals age over time. He has excellent structure and this is indicative of how we choose and breed for structure.

Traits:

  • Cream
  • Walling
  • Crowned

Base Traits:

  • Orange (Creamsicle color)
  • Tiger

BHR

This is BHR which stands for Big Head Red, this boy has a MASSIVE head.

Traits:

  • Patternless

Base Traits:

  • Tan (Reddish hue)

Candyman

This is Candyman, he is a breeder loan from Geckological and we are hoping to cross his red color into our Red Maroon project from AVA and Omega. We are still creating multiple groups for this so we can have animals with a good variation and can still cross the lines down the line.

Traits:

  • Patternless

Base Traits:

  • Red (Cherry Red)

Charlie

This is Charlie, he comes from a line of Dalmatians and Super Dalmatians that we've been working for a few years. We have been adding yellow and cream on/off to aim for a Mocha coloration, Adding Walling to this current color should produce some nice Mocha and Cream dalmatians.

Traits:

  • Phantom
  • Dalamtian

Base Traits:

  • Cream
  • Citrus
  • Brindle

Domino

This is Domino, as a sub-adult he showed a Pitch Black base, he is 11 years old in this photo and still produces for us. Black base animals do fade to a brown color with old age 5+ and Domino has kept a very dark base even into his old age. He pairs with our black and white groups and we have crossed him out to other projects over the years.

Traits:

  • Harlequin (Cream)
  • Whitewall

Base Traits:

  • Black

E!

This is E!, named for Everything! He has several traits that have been refined over 5 generations of Lavender and Cream animals that are mixed with Canadian lines from Healey and Dunlop animals. The lavender in this line sometimes expresses with a slight blueish hue in the males and more purple in the females, at least I the ones I've kept =). The head in particular doesn't brown out and becomes more lavender with age. this boy came from Lyla and Fahrenheit.

Traits:

  • Pinstripe
  • Harlequin (Cream)
  • Whitewall

Base Traits:

  • Lavender

Fahrenheit

This is Fahrenheit, he comes from Repashy's line of creamsicle animals (This was a LONG time ago). He had one of the deepest base colors I've ever seen. Up close and in person the colors are hues of Pink and Orange sherbert and Peaches that swirl around and mix with each other. We like to refer to it as Coral and have been DYING to try and reproduce it. It has proved notoriously difficult and he is no longer with us so now even harder! E and FML are the only offspring we have left of him.

Traits:

  • Creamsicle
  • Flame

Base Traits:

  • Coral

Fury

This is Fury, one of our oldest Citrus animals out of Repashy's collection, he's 15 years old in the second photo. Fury has produced several yellow animals for us that have gone into make Grunge, Punks, and other projects for us. The pictures here help to illustrate exactly how yellow animals can fade over time, this color change begins usually around 6-8 years of age and takes about 3-5 years.

Traits:

  • Pinstripe
  • Citrus
  • Lateral Stripe

Base Traits:

  • Citrus

Kong

This is Kong he is another of our Citrus Tiger pinstripes. We love this color and tigering pattern, we also love the phantom pairing with these, and makes excellent combos. All our yellow groups have excellent structure and long crest spikes that extend down the neck. In person Kong's yellow color is like a yellow highlighter.

  • Pinstripe
  • Citrus

Base Traits:

  • Citrus
  • Brindle

Ling

This is Ling

Traits:

  • Pinstripe
  • Harlequin (Orange Pattern)
  • Walling

Logan

This is Logan, he is one of our Bluest Lavender bases, and has wild patterning and makes very unique offspring that are really popular. He is what made us want to introduce dal spots to more and more lavenders. His structure and wild spikes pass on to several offspring. His high contrast pattern also passes on and many offspring will develop tangerine coloration highlighting the pattern, we're hoping to throw him in with our Tangerine blueish colored Super Softscales.

Traits:

  • Pinstripe
  • Whitewall
  • Harlequin
  • Dalmatian (Hzg)

Base Traits:

  • Lavender

Ryuke

Ryuke is a pitch black Halloween. We love this guys's coloration and he really shines for a Halloween. He's got excellent structure and it shows in his offspring.

Traits:

  • Pinstripe
  • Lateral Stripe
  • Harlequin (Orange pattern)
  • Tangerine

Base Traits:

  • Black (Pitch Black)

Sunkist

This is Sunkist. Although not breeding any longer he is one of the more yellow citrus Punks we produced. His unique Tangerine dipped crests have passed down to a few offspring, we will try to continue to breed that look into future Punks line animals.

Traits:

  • Phantom
  • Citrus
  • Tangerine
  • Dalmatian

Base Traits:

  • Citrus

Traits:

  • Cream
